A good poster frame keeps the poster flat, clean and readable, and makes changing it quick enough that it actually gets changed. Snap frames are the standard for indoor walls; outside you need either a heavier profile in a sheltered spot or a glazed, lockable case.

Snap frames

All four sides of a snap frame click open from the front, so the frame stays on the wall while you swap the poster. An anti-glare, UV-stable cover sheet protects the print. Profiles run from a slim 15 mm for small indoor frames to 38 mm for large or draughty locations; wider profiles grip the cover more firmly. Silver anodised is standard, with black, white, red and blue in popular sizes and seven RAL colours made to order.

Security and lockable frames

Security snap frames have higher tension and open only with an opening tool. Lockable snap frames open with a hex key and the sides release in sequence. Both suit schools, stations, car parks and unmonitored corridors.

Poster cases and noticeboards

For outdoor walls choose a glazed, lockable poster case: an aluminium frame with a hinged door and vandal-resistant polycarbonate glazing, sizes A4 to 40 x 60 in. Noticeboards take 4 to 12 A4 sheets on a steel back with magnetic pins. A high-mount frame with a pull-down cartridge lets you place a large poster out of reach and change it from the ground.

Window and ceiling displays

Poster hanger rails and clamp rails hang posters, banners and fabric in windows or from ceilings on cable kits. Suction poster holders stick to the inside of the glass. Slim sign holders take printed inserts for doors and meeting rooms, and printed open and closed signs go on the shop door.

How to choose a size

• A4 and A3: notices, menus, lifts and corridors.
• A2 and A1: promotions in shop windows and receptions.
• A0, 30 x 40 in and 40 x 60 in: large promotions, cinemas and out-of-town stores.

Measure the poster, not the frame: a frame is sold by the poster size it holds, and the visible area is slightly smaller because the frame grips the edge.

We print posters in all the standard sizes; for frames outdoors, choose a water-resistant material. Lightboxes need backlit film, which you will find with menu cases and lightboxes.
